Our social work

The Hospital of the Santa Charity from their foundation for Don Miguel Mañara is devoted to assist the poor, incurable destitute and abandoned, sick old men and handicapped.

In the Foundation of Mañara, and as a result of the epidemics that knocked down Seville, soon it had to extend the primitive room in which lodging only occurred him on mats. After the cession of the old Atarazana, constructed in 1252 by King Alfonso X, the level of the ground rose and the lateral arcs blinded and Don Miguel built three extensive rooms that contained 150 the necessary beds and all dependencies for the service of the establishment, with wide patios and gardens and rooms for the ones in charge of the same one.

From that date, the service of dependent Casa-Hogar of the Brotherhood, was taken care of primitively by the Brothers of Penance and, to its extinction, by the Sisters of the Charity and lately by the White Cross Brothers. In the last years it has been extended with an independent residence, where it is taken care of 26 discapacitados, House Miguel Mañara in Montequinto (Two Sisters).

The direction of Casa-Hogar consists of a medical service that passes consultations daily, two administrative ones, six caretakers, three people for washing, seam and irons, a barber and another one for maintenance, a cristalero, three cooks, two assistants of office and correturno, that take care of more than one hundred refugees, helped by the brothers.

The center dedicates to special attention to the hygiene and cleanliness of the residents. It exists to dossier complete of each one of them and one works for the social education.

Throughout the year takes care of the leisure and the free time of the refugees, who integrate themselves specially in the festejos that are organized, and in Christmas, Kings Magos, Fair of April, Crossings of May, Rocieros Groups, etc..., independently of weekly exits of strolls with the most limited to physically attend popular concerts, celebrations, exhibitions and vacations of summer. Everything to expenses of the Brotherhood helped by alms of some Sevillians.
